As such this pretty muchfitted the bill but, even with my low requirements it must be said thatthe film didn’t bring anything in particular to the table. The openinghook is odd because it casts a serious tone over the first parts of thefilm (until you forget it) but at the same time you are also aware thatit is not going to go the way that it suggests it will. What it doesinstead is deliver a story that can’t decide if it wants to be a comedywith the usual hairdresser etc clichГ©s or a more soppy romantic film.It tries to do both but doesn’t manage to succeed at either вЂ“ althoughprobably not because of it trying to do these things so much as it justbeing fairly basic stuff. Its main problem is that it simply lacks realspark across the board.Fine aint they?Some That is until the guys decide the only way they will ever score any quality time with their women is to find single Eva a man. So while I liked the film, I also thought it had some major problems. Before that the film had a problem deciding whether or not it was really a comedy, but then this just got ridiculous. But the big letdown for me was the scene where the husbands/bf kidnap LL and stage a fake funeral. So there's a continuity problem with Union's character. One problem is that pitchy people don't suddenly become nice just because they're in love. And so, the husbands/boyfriend plot to get Union out of their hair by hiring the suave LL to romance her off her feet and out of their lives. Overall, its' a good premise - Union is the pitchy oldest sister who is somewhat controlling of her sisters' lives.and of their husbands and boyfriends.

Royale Watkins is interesting as a gay hair dresser. Mel Jackson is good as one of the husbands, while Dartanyan Edmonds had a rather short career which pretty much ended after this film.and rightfully so. Essence Atkins, Robinne Lee, and Meagan Good. The ladies who play the sisters of Union did not particularly impress me, although they did their jobs. I enjoyed him here not sure why he has not been more successful. Her acting is fine, although there are issues with character continuity.but that's the fault of the writers and director.ĭuane Martin is very good as the boyfriend of one of Union's sisters. I have long thought that not only is Gabrielle Union a really good actress, but also one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. There's a lot to enjoy here, but ultimately one serious error prevents me from giving a rating of "7".Īlthough he's not a particularly great actor, it's hard not to enjoy LL Cool J, who here plays 'Ray', a blue collar worker who thinks of himself as a playa, but then actually falls in love.
